About the Maui Pattern

Inspired by the story of Māui and his legendary fish hook, this 3D-printed box reimagines traditional carving patterns through a modern lens. The design reflects the ocean’s movement, strength, and safe passage, with elements like the koru symbolising new beginnings and the puhoro capturing the flow of a waka through water.
